Frozen Dead Shasta's Story
INTRODUCTION
I have a family story to share with you, inside is information that helped me to understand and solve some of the mysteries in my life. My Grand-Father, Dr. Carl Lighthart and my Grand-Mother, Anna Evans Lighthart are my grand-parents on my Mother’s side of the family. They arrived in Wisconsin soon after he received his Doctor's internship at a Madison Hospital. After my Mother was born they moved farther North and away from the city.
It was in that small town that she met my Father, Joseph Martin. He was born around 1960 and was a roamer of sorts. He traveled from place to place across the country with a carnival before reaching the state of Wisconsin. There isn't too much known about his side of the family for he really never wanted to talk about any of them. He married my Mother, Mary Shanecuqua Lighthart on December 8, 1980.
My name is Matt Martin! I was born April 3, 1982 and as far back as I can remember my Mother and I would go to the carnival every year with my Father. The bright colored lights and carousel music filled the nights. My Father would always get a part-time job at one of the game booths, and there would be crowds of people wandering down the fairway.
“Why does he do this every year?” I asked.
“He can’t help it” Mom explained. “The carnival is in
his blood, just as ours are filled with kindred spirits of the past.”

Matt Returns To Timbaloo
Introduction
Hi, I’m Matt Martin and I am still living in the guest house on the McPherson’s place. I survived the deadly disease that had threatened my life during the first part of 2006 and I work part-time with Dr. Charles Longstad in his new medical practice.
Molly Duggman and I had set our wedding date for the fall of 2006, and now it will be only a few days before she will be my wife. A few months earlier Molly convinced me to get in touch with my Mother to let her know what was going on in my life. So with Molly’s insistence I called my Mother, told her the good news and gave her my address.
I sat on the sofa looking down at the card in my hand. It was a note from my Mother Mary Shanecuqua Martin. She was coming to my wedding and she would arrive alone on Wednesday October 11th. Also inside the card was an invitation for the upcoming family reunion and birthday party for Claire James Kasey. Claire is my Great-Grandmother Shasta’s twin sister. She will be celebrating her 88th birthday in October.
The plans were to have the family reunion and party in Timbaloo, Oklahoma for a week long event starting on October 14th. I really wasn’t sure whether I wanted to go or not, but after showing the card to Molly she was ready to take the trip.
“It will make for a great honeymoon vacation,” she said, “and I can meet everybody.”
Frozen Dead Ends With Wings-of-Life
Introduction
It was the fall of 2007, when my Mother, Mary Shanecuqua Lighthart Martin informed me that she was going to Oklahoma and wanted to know if my wife Molly and I would like to go with her. My father would be doing his annual carnival job and she didn’t really want to go alone.
My name is Matt Martin and I have shared with you my version of the stories of my Great-Grand-Mother Shasta and my Great-Aunt Claire. This time we would be visiting with their older brother and my Great-Uncle Wings-of-Life. He had married Deidra Golden Wind. Their eight children went by the last name of Wind.
This was a side of the family that I really hadn’t seen very much. He lived in Rosedale, Oklahoma and didn’t go to the last reunion. I talked it over with Molly and we decided to go, since we could get out of town for awhile and we would be celebrating our one year anniversary on October 12. It didn’t seem like we had been married that long, because we are so much in love.
I consider myself a lucky guy, for I’m married to a great girl and I escaped from being one of the Frozen Dead, not once but twice.
I wondered what this year might bring.
